GJA called on Attorney General to expedite action on Ahmed Suale’s case.

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has expressed much worry about attacks on journalists and urged the Attorney General to expedite action on Ahmed Suale’s case. 

Mr Albert Dwumfour, the President of GJA worried “it has been five years since the investigative journalist was murdered and nothing seems to be happening.”

Mr Dwumfour therefore called on the government to intensify its collaboration with the GJA in ensuring the security and safety of journalists in Ghana.

Journalists are playing crucial roles toward the development of this country and called for the protection of journalists, he said. 

Mr. Dwumfour commended journalists for their immense and restless contributions towards nation building over the years.

The GJA, at the Ghana International Press Center in Accra today (Friday, February 23, 2024) inaugurated an 11-member committee to plan its 75th anniversary commemoration this year.

The Committee would plan activities for the anniversary across the country from March to the climax in September at this year’s GJA Media Awards.

Mr. Godwin Avenorgbo, a former Director of Radio at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) is the chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee.

Other members of the committee are Mr. Maxwell Kudekor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of GJA, Marian Kyei, a media consultant and private legal practitioner, Boahene Asamoah, Editor of Graphic Business and Zambaga Rufai, former Western Regional Secretary of the GJA.

Also are Alice Tettey, Central Regional Manager of the Ghana News Agency and former Central Regional Chairperson of the GJA,  Dr Etse Sikanku, lecturer at the University of Media, Arts and Communication, and Mathias Tibu, former Vice President of the GJA.

The rest are Kobby Asmah, member of the National Media Commission and former Editor of Daily Graphic, Peter Agbeko, former Head of Public Affairs at the Ghana Standards Authority and Ellen Avorgbedor, former Central Regional Director of the GBC.
