The seminar was organized by MES Foundation at the University of Energy and Natural Resources to inspire young women to pursue careers in politics and other top position fields.

It was attended by Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, Lawyer Charity Dwomoh, CEO of Women Uplifting Women and other high profile women in the Bono region.

Speaking on the theme: “Augmenting Women’s Political Participation in Ghana”, Mrs Suraj said women ought to have confidence in themselves and be self motivated to actively participate in politics and other key leadership positions in society.

According to her, politics is not just about belonging to a particular political party, but rather the everyday decisions one make at home, school and work places as well as the ability to effect positive change when things are going wrong.

Mrs Suraj therefore called on women, particularly the youth to eschew the perception that politics is a male-dominated field.
