Eschew behaviors like LGBTQI+ – Minister to students

Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister has advised Junior and Senior High School students to desist from behaviors likely to endanger their lives.

She worried recent statistics and projections indicates that the Bono region has 2.64 per cent prevalence of HIV cases with high infections rate “which is very alarming and unfortunate”.

Madam Owusu-Banahene said the situation is very worrisome, therefore implored the general public, particularly the young boys and girls to eschew acts of sexual promiscuity, drug and alcoholism, the LGBTQI+, indecent dressing, pre-marital sex and exhibit good social and moral values worthy of emulation. 

She gave the advice when speaking on Friday at a gathering of five Girls Schools from across the region to showcase their handy works at the Sunyani Youth Development Association (SYDA) Skills Training Center in Sunyani.

The students by name “Bono Changemakers” targets solving sanitation problems in the country and creating jobs in that regard.

Working under the theme: “The Ghanaian Girl Bringing Changes Through Innovation”, they used the waste materials such as sachet water rubbers and plastic bottles to manufacture important household usable items including rain coat, waste bins, tables, stands, pen and pencil boxes, dressing mirror and many more.
