Aburaso (Ashanti Region), January 18, 2023.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of G2 Foundation, Ms Gifty Nyarko has expressed the need for families of deceased to assist the windows, their children as well as the orphans.

“Widowhood is part of stages in life, not a curse, therefore don’t neglect the widow”, she stated, adding that “most widows are amongst the most vulnerable in society and needed support at all levels.

Ms Nyarko made the call in a welcome address over the weekend at a durbar organized by the G2 foundation for widows, orphans, persons with disabilities, the aged, the needy and fatherless at Aburaso in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

She emphasized that widowhood is a natural phenomenon that married couple would surely encounter at a point in time because it is not likely both partners would die at the same time.

Ms Nyarko therefore encouraged them not to give up “despite the serious distraction and traumatic experience”, saying “God himself is the defender of the widow and the friend of the fatherless”.

The event was an annual get together to put smile on the faces of vulnerable people, particularly widows, orphans and the fatherless.

As part of the event, over 200 people were screened in body mass index, eye problems, blood pressure, Hepatitis B, Malaria, breast cancer and other ailments and beneficiaries were given free medication.

Ms Nyarko donated bags of rice, sugar, assorted drinks, cooking oil, clothes, hampers and other packages for more than 300 people including fatherless pupils who also received books, boxes of pens, pencils, school bags, and educational scholarship for deserving ones.

The program was supported by Sankofa International, a United States NGO and some individuals. The beneficiaries thanked the foundation for the kindness towards them.
