Some night food vendors in Sunyani have taken over the recently constructed pedestrian walkway and pounding fufu on it in the night.

The pavement was part of the more than Ghc8 million secondary cities project including modern streetlights Sunyani is enjoying.

Lawless behavior in the Central Business Areas (CBA) of Sunyani is turning the intention of the project upside down in the name of right to operate a business.

During a night tour in the CBA of Sunyani, thefourlens.com captured an on-going fufu pounding on the pavement at 7:16 pm on Sunday to block the entire walkway.

It was right in front of Modern Information and business center directly opposite Anokye drug store near the Total fuel station.

A concern resident of Sunyani, on conditions of anonymity told thefourlens.com that “such night fufu pounding on that side of the pavement is a routine business”.

He called on Mr. John Ansu Kumi, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, the Sunyani Municipal Coordinating Director, Assembly members and other City authorities and duty bearers to act swiftly to halt this lawlessness in Sunyani.

“This people must face prosecution to deter perpetrators of other activities causing destruction to state properties”, he stated.
