GIZ innovative business support in Ahafo region, 51 pitched.

A total of 51 young men and women with innovative entrepreneurship Idea in the Ahafo region have pitched to compete for the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) business support project.
They comprises 80 per cent females and 20 per cent males between the ages of 18 and 35 from Goaso, Mim, Kukoum, Sankore, Kenyasi, Whidiem, Nkasem, Duayaw Nkwanta, Bechem, Yamfo and their environs.
They applied for the support to start, expand and sustain their business in fashion and design, catering, agri-businesses, beauty and cosmetics as well as media and IT solutions.
Milygof City Solutions, a Sunyani-based businesses advisory and consortium organized and coordinated the project with awareness creation and mobilize the interested persons for application, orientation and a three-day pitching at Goaso and Duayaw Nkwanta between last Monday and Thursday.
The GIZ opened an application to support 30 successful applicants in the Ahafo region with the required tools and materials to grow and sustain their businesses in their respective Districts and Municipalities.
The project, also organized for the Bono East and Ahafo regions was to help create easy job and employment opportunities to the youth and demotivate the issue of irregular migration in the tripartite regions.
In an interview after the pitching activities, the participants with great joy commended the GIZ and organizers of the project for the timely opportunity.
Rita Gakpetor, a fashion designer at Duayaw Nkwanta said she didn’t know and even dream of such a platform and opportunities for them to formally present their business ideas at their doorstep for support.
According to her, “we have not experienced this before and even the orientation and training on Monday would be of great help and a mind opening experience for me and I believe my friends as well to grow our businesses”.
She works with a hand sewing machine which is very slow working with, but was optimistic if supported with an industrial sewing machine, she could increase and expand her support for her community, particularly for teenage girls who are school drop outs and those from broken homes.
Salifu Azara of Ayisha-Abu bakery in Kenyasi said they use water melon and pawpaw for their sugar-free bread baking, mushroom for their pie baking and use Prekese for sobolo drink to help fight ailments and boost the immune system of clients.
She pleaded with the GIZ for support to secure production space and baking-oven so they can employ and train more other people and increase production to meet demand of their customers such as schools, stores and individual retailers.
Agapele Samuel of K. Sammy ventures in Sankore, who is into catering and agri-businesses observed Ahafo has a lot of young innovative businesses ideas and such platforms would help unearth them for economic growth and development of the area.
