A former Dutch football Coach of Ashanti Gold, Berekum Chelsea and Kpando Hearts of Lions, Mr. Hans Van Der Pluijm has commended Mr. Ransford Antwi for the high sense of patriotism shown Ghana some 18 years ago.

“Ransford Antwi, thank you, you have taught Ghana as a whole, a lesson about patriotism. Hopefully, they will learn from it, and show appreciation to the right ones”, Mr. Van Der Pluijm wrote on his Facebook page.

This follows a public discourses for Mr. Antwi, the Sunyani-based business man to through legal means demand his fair share and compensation for engineering the Puma sponsorship deal for the Ghana Black Stars prior to the 2006 World Cup, but denied himself the profit.

Mr. Antwi was recently revealed by Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former GFA President as the broker of the 8 million dollars Puma deal, the first kit sponsorship in the history of the Black Stars for the 2006 World Cup.

Despite public pressure, Mr. Antwi insisted he did that for his country Ghana and football enthusiasts across the world have applauded him for the selfless service to the nation.

According to many of them who spoked with thefourlens.com, it’s not ordinary to see a young Ghanaian in his thirties (eighteen years ago) to broker such an important kit sponsorship deal for the country without seeking financial benefit.

They have since been calling on the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ghana Football Association to adequately compensate Mr. Antwi to serve as an inspiration to Ghanian youth.
