Tijaniya Muslim Council of Ghana calls for Collective Involvement in Nation Building

The Bono Regional Tijaniya Muslim Council of Ghana (T.M.C.G) has held its 7th annual Maulud Festival with a call for collective involvement in nation building.
The Maulud Festival celebrated by the T.M.C.G is an annual event for the “Birth Celebration of Beloved Prophet Muhammad and Remembrance of Allah”.
The 7th edition of the Bono Regional celebration in Sunyani Zongo from Saturday morning to Sunday dawn was on the theme: “The Role of the Ghanaian Muslim in Nation Building”.
It was organized under the leadership of Khalifa Sheikh Amhed Abdul Faid Maikano, the President of the T.M.C.G.
The event brought together Chiefs in Sunyani Zongo, Islamic Scholars and other eminent persons in Islam as well as traders across the country.
Some included the Dagomba Chief, Mossi Chief and Sissala Chiefs of Sunyani, Shaykh Nasir Bawa from Techiman and Ustaz Abdul Mumin, an Islamic Scholar who is also the Second Deputy Chief Imam of Sunyani.
Mr. Issah Abdul Latif, the secretary of Bono Regional T.M.C.G in an interview said the festival was to inculcate into young man and women in the Zongo communities the need to be actively involved in nation building endeavors.
According to him, it also aimed at admonishing the youth to embrace moral uprightness to erase the negative perception that social vices were mostly perpetrated by people from Zongo communities.
Mr. Latif noted the Islamic Scholars, the Imams, youth Imams and all other persons in the Zongo communities in one way or the other have duties in holistic development for accelerated national growth.
He was optimistic the festival with Islamic and Godly teachings would rekindled and encouraged the general public to relentlessly take up citizenry responsibilities to make the country a better living place for both current and unborn generations.
Activities of the festival were Quran recitation, local Damba festival performance and tribal dance shows and donation of clothes, eateries and undisclosed cash amount to childrens’ homes in Sunyani.
There was health screening exercise in the areas of diabetes, HIV and Hepatitis ‘B’.
During the festival, small and medium scale businesses in Sunyani Zongo recorded impressive sales to increase their incomes.
The traders in Islamic wares, fragrance and eateries attested that the occasion boost their economic activities within the period.
Most of the traders during the festive period said were from Tamale, Kumasi, Accra, Kasua, Navrongo, Yendi and other parts of Ghana and were selling at whole sale prices with more than 30% discount on all items.
The were trading in bridal wears, ladies shoes, Kente, leefe, jewelries, clothes, perfumes and others.
Fusena Ahmed, a Muslim bridal wear trader from Kumasi stated though it’s their first time doing business in Sunyani, they were excited about the sales made.
